This incredibly fascinating piece is made from a antique circa 1870 Victorian Sterling silver English made key wind pocket watch case, with original beveled glass crystal.
This lovely 140+ year old Sterling silver pocket watch case was completely handmade.
The back of the watch is beautifully hand engraved with a lovely leaf motif and french moire pattern surrounding a shield, perfect for monogramming.
The pocket watch case is embellished with a highly detailed antiqued brass bumble bee charm. Also within the case are nine faceted genuine red Garnet gemstones totaling approximately 6.0+ carats. The garnets are cut into many shapes and sizes, varying from round brilliant, emerald, pear shape, marquise and cushion. A variety of vintage circa (1870 to 1950) watch cogs, gears and wheels made of brass and steel also have been safely nestled within the case.
Both front and back bezels were originally plated in solid gold (Vermeil), over time the gold wash has worn, however you can still visibly see what remains.
The case itself is in great condition for its age, it has a few minor dings here and there and some pitting that can be found on both front and back bezel edges, which just adds to its old world charm. The hand engraving is intact and in good condition, which is rare for a precious metal watch case that is over 140+ years old.
The pocket watch case suspends from a Victorian styled bail I've fashioned from a piece of sterling silver over brass filigree.
A soldered antiqued silver rope chain with lobster clasp completes the necklace.
The watch case measures: 1-7/8 inches in diameter and the watch case & pendant bail is 3-inches tall.
The length of necklace/chain is: 24-inches long.
