Truly a phenomenal piece of statement jewelry.

This incredibly Rare and fascinating piece is made from a antique circa 1900 Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Swiss made pocket watch case, with original beveled glass crystal.

This lovely 110+ year old Sterling silver pocket watch case was completely handmade.

The front and back cover of the watch have been beautifully hand engraved with a Art Nouveau leaf and tree motif. The watch also features a matte neillo finish.

Niello watch cases usually date approximately to the late 1890s or early 1900s. Niello is a form of decorating metal dating back to ancient times. It is the application of a dark, black or nearly black metalic substance, to engraved metal. The niello is bonded to the engraved metal by means of high temperature, forming a fairly sturdy finish. This decorative technique became popular on watch cases around the turn of the century. Niello cases were produced almost entirely in Europe, although at least one U.S. case company made them.

The pocket watch case is embellished with a highly detailed antiqued Sterling Silver over brass floral heart charm. Also within the case is a 2.0+ carat faceted oval shaped Pink Tourmaline Swarovski crystal gemstone. A variety of vintage circa (1870 to 1950) watch cogs, gears and wheels made of brass and steel also have been safely nestled within the case.

The case itself is in terrific condition for its age, it has a few minor blemishes here and there which just adds to its old world charm. The hand engraving is intact and in wonderful condition, which is rare for a precious metal watch case dating over 110+ years old. There is a minor (Cosmetic only) chip on the edge of the beveled glass crystal.

The pocket watch case suspends from a Victorian styled bail I've fashioned from a piece of sterling silver over brass filigree.

A soldered antiqued silver beaded oval link chain with lobster clasp completes the necklace.

The watch case measures just under: 1-1/4 inches in diameter.

The watch case & pendant bail measure: 2-1/4 inches tall.
