This handmade one of a kind, stunning Victorian inspired Steampunk necklace features an antique circa 1921, 15 genuine ruby jewel, guilloche engraved American pocket watch movement.
The watch is mounted upon a highly detailed, antiqued sterling silver over brass Victorian inspired, leaf motif filigree setting.
I was fortunate enough to salvage this amazing watch movement from a severely damaged and beyond repair, 14K solid gold ladies pocket watch case that had been previously scrapped for it gold content.
The 91-year old watch mechanism itself is absolutely beautiful, and was produced by the world renowned, Illinois Watch Co. Illinois manufactured some of the most exquisitely designed factory made, hand finished pocket and wrist, time pieces found today. Illinois watches are highly sought after by collectors and watch enthusiasts alike.
I was so thrilled, when I discovered this movement. Being able to re-purpose this fine time piece giving it a new life, by incorporating it into this elegant necklace was such a joy!
The mechanism displays, brilliant genuine ruby jewels, exposed rose gold gears, highly polished steels plates, accents and ornate guilloche engraving, which is absolutely fabulous. I hand picked an antique silver watch gear and set within its center, a aquamarine blue Swarovski crystal.
The pendant is embellished further with a small, antique porcelain pocket watch second hand dial, circa 1900 and a antique watch gear that has been set with another aquamarine blue Swarovski crystal stone.
Two antique silver filigree capped genuine faceted aqua blue/green Amazonite beads, attach the pendant to an ornate gunmetal "figure 8" chain, with lobster clasp.
A gorgeous genuine faceted Seafoam green genuine Chalcedony briolette drop capped in antiqued silver filigree hangs from the bottom of the pendant, completing the piece.
The necklace measures: 18-inches long.
The pendant measures: 2-1/2 inches long by 1-3/4 inches in wide.
